Apologetics Series: Is the New Testament Relevant?

The New Testament is relevant for the 21st Century because The New Testament helps us understand how to conduct ourselves in the Modern Era and gives us hope during any crisis. The New Testament is relevant because Gospel give us a living Cornerstone, Jesus Christ, who will always be there for us. The Gospel is comprised of three important steps, Admit, Believe, and Forever Receive. This should give us hope. 1 Peter 2:4-9 shares this truth. 1 Peter 2:4-9 (NIV) states , “As you come to him, the living stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him—you also like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in scripture it says: ‘See I lay stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.’ Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,’ and, ‘a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” The Gospel helps us become a Child of God and that promise never goes away.

This passage leads to another reason why the New Testament is relevant. It is relevant because of God’s Promises never goes void. Hebrews 13:5-6 states, “God will never leave you nor forsake you. The Lord is our helper.” This promise helps us know that Jesus Christ will never leaves us even when the going gets tough.

These are some of the reasons why the New Testament is relevant to the 21st Century.
